Arsenal Ready to Reward Mikel Arteta With Major New Deal Amid Historic Trophy Push
Arsenal are preparing to hand Mikel Arteta a lucrative new contract this summer, regardless of how the Premier League title race or Champions League campaign concludes. The decision was reportedly made by the club’s hierarchy back in March as they look to secure the Spaniard’s long-term future at the Emirates Stadium.

Arteta has remained fully concentrated on Arsenal’s pursuit of silverware, but the manager is said to still be deeply committed to the project he has built in North London. Since taking charge in December 2019 after serving as Pep Guardiola’s assistant at Manchester City, the Spanish coach has overseen a major transformation at the club.
During his time in charge, Arteta has already guided Arsenal to FA Cup success as well as two Community Shield triumphs. His impact has convinced the club’s leadership that he is the right figure to lead Arsenal into the future.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reported that Arsenal are planning to open discussions over a fresh agreement in the summer. Although Arteta’s current contract runs until June 2027, the club are eager to reward the progress achieved under his management.
Romano explained that the decision regarding a new deal had already been made in March and was not dependent on how the season ends. He also stated that Arteta’s priority remains winning trophies, while confirming that the manager is excited about future negotiations because of his belief in the Arsenal project.
Arsenal currently sit at the top of the Premier League standings with 76 points from 35 matches. They hold a five-point lead over Manchester City, who still possess a game in hand, as the Gunners continue their push for a first league title since the 2003-2004 campaign.
The club’s impressive season has also extended into Europe. Arsenal recently defeated Atletico Madrid in the Champions League semi-finals to secure a place in the final in Budapest. Following a 1-1 draw away from home, the Gunners sealed qualification with a narrow 1-0 victory at the Emirates.
The achievement represents Arsenal’s second appearance in a Champions League final and their first since losing to Barcelona during the 2005-2006 season. The team are now within reach of a historic double that could further strengthen Arteta’s standing at the club.
With a new contract expected soon, Arsenal have made it clear that Arteta remains central to their long-term ambitions. No matter the outcome of the remaining fixtures, the club believe he is the ideal manager to keep Arsenal competing at the highest level for years to come.
