Mohamed Salah's contract talks with Liverpool stall: Barcelona move possible next season

‎‎Mohamed Salah's future at Liverpool is increasingly uncertain, as contract renewal talks between the Egyptian forward and the Premier League club appear to have reached a standstill. With Salah’s current deal expiring at the end of the season, speculation is mounting over a potential move to Barcelona next year.

‎According to a report from SPORT, Salah has reportedly offered himself to Barcelona, but the move hinges on one major condition: agreeing to a substantial pay cut. Salah, who currently earns around €18 million annually at Liverpool, is one of the highest-paid players in the Premier League. However, due to Barcelona's ongoing financial difficulties and the uncertainty around their return to the 1:1 salary rule, the club would only be able to afford him if he significantly reduces his wages.
‎Barcelona’s interest in Salah follows recent rumors surrounding their pursuit of Liverpool teammate Luis Diaz, with sporting director Deco reportedly eyeing the Colombian winger to strengthen the left side of Barcelona's attack. However, it now seems that securing a deal for Salah might be more feasible, especially given the player’s willingness to explore new opportunities.
‎Salah’s recent comments in an interview with Liverpool legend Steve McManaman have fueled further speculation about his future. Reflecting on his time at Anfield, Salah appeared to suggest that his departure from the club could be imminent: "I want fans to remember that I gave it all to the fans. I gave it all to the city. I was here, I wasn't lazy, I just enjoyed my football and gave it all," Salah shared. "I just want them to remember that I was here for eight years and I gave it all."
‎Liverpool fans will have to remain patient as they await official news regarding Salah's future. In the meantime, the 32-year-old winger will continue to play a pivotal role in the Reds’ season, with key fixtures including the EFL Cup final against Newcastle on Sunday, March 16, and the second leg of their Champions League Round of 16 tie against PSG on Tuesday night. With over 50 goal contributions in just over 40 games this season, Salah is having arguably his best year yet, helping Liverpool remain competitive in the Premier League, Champions League, and EFL Cup.
‎As the season progresses, the speculation surrounding Salah’s future will undoubtedly intensify, with both Liverpool fans and Barcelona supporters eagerly watching for any developments.
