‎According to The Athletic, Bayer Leverkusen is finalizing the appointment of the Dutch tactician, who will replace Xabi Alonso, the current Leverkusen boss set to take over at Real Madrid as Carlo Ancelotti’s successor. This move reunites Ten Hag with the Bundesliga, where he has prior experience managing Bayern Munich II between 2013 and 2015, giving him a solid foundation for his return to German football.
‎Ten Hag’s time at Manchester United was marked by mixed results, leading to his departure. However, reports from Bild suggest that the Dutch coach is eager to re-establish his credentials as a top manager and sees Bayer Leverkusen as the ideal platform to rebuild his career.
‎Bayer Leverkusen, the 2023-24 Bundesliga title winners under Alonso, finished 13 points behind champions Bayern Munich this season. With Alonso’s exit, the club is now looking to Ten Hag to maintain their competitive edge in the Bundesliga and challenge for top honors once again.
‎Interestingly, Bayer Leverkusen had also shown interest in Como manager Cesc Fabregas, but he is set to remain in Italy, clearing the way for Ten Hag’s appointment.
‎The German club is expected to confirm Ten Hag’s appointment soon, allowing the Dutch coach to begin preparations for the new Bundesliga campaign and a fresh managerial challenge. Football fans and analysts alike will be watching closely to see how Erik ten Hag adapts and leads Bayer Leverkusen back to success.
