‎Man City Close to £65m Antoine Semenyo Transfer as Bournemouth Forward Prepares January Move

‎Manchester City have reportedly advanced significantly in securing a £65 million transfer for Bournemouth winger Antoine Semenyo. The Ghana international, valued at £65m ($87m), could leave the Cherries in the January transfer window, with multiple clubs reportedly interested in activating his release clause. A move to the Etihad Stadium now appears imminent.

‎Semenyo has attracted attention from several Premier League clubs, including Manchester United, who are monitoring the 25-year-old’s situation. Liverpool have also been linked with the forward amid ongoing speculation regarding Mohamed Salah’s future at Anfield.
‎City have emerged as front-runners and are ready to finalise an agreement in early 2026. Pep Guardiola’s squad already features a wealth of attacking options, and Semenyo could provide additional firepower to Manchester City’s Premier League campaign.
‎According to journalist Ben Jacobs, Semenyo’s transfer to Manchester City has been “agreed in principle,” with both clubs currently preparing the necessary documentation. Clarification on the deal is expected within the next 24 hours.
‎Guardiola has refrained from providing updates on the forward, stating that he had no news and emphasizing that the transfer window is closed from his perspective.
‎Semenyo has scored nine goals this season for Bournemouth, following 13 goals in the previous campaign. The Chelsea-born winger, who began his career at Bristol City, has focused on maintaining form on the pitch and minimizing distractions from transfer speculation.
‎The forward commented on his approach to the rumours, saying he concentrates on the present, aims to contribute to his team, and lets future developments take care of themselves.
‎Bournemouth could realise a significant profit from the deal, having signed Semenyo in January 2023 for £10m ($13m). Head coach Andoni Iraola has emphasized that the club has not yet seen the last of their key attacker and expects him to be available for upcoming matches.
‎Following a 2-2 draw at Chelsea, Iraola confirmed that Semenyo remains a crucial part of Bournemouth’s squad and highlighted the importance of maintaining performance levels amid transfer speculation. The manager expects the forward to be fit for the home clash against Arsenal, provided he recovers from a demanding schedule.
‎The transfer could proceed if Manchester City triggers the release clause in Semenyo’s contract. Bournemouth would have limited ability to block the move once the clause is activated. Paperwork may not be completed in time for Semenyo to feature in City’s next match against Chelsea, but both clubs are expected to prioritise the player’s fitness ahead of Bournemouth’s game against Arsenal.
