'I Am Not a Magician': Rashford Unsure on Permanent Barcelona Stay Despite La Liga Title-Winning Free-Kick

Historic Clasico Moment
Rashford’s goal came after a moment of hesitation, as he later explained that he initially considered crossing the ball instead of shooting.
"No, I wasn't going to shoot," he told reporters in the mixed zone. "I wasn't going to shoot... because when I put the ball down I didn't see the angles. I didn't feel confident it was going to be a goal, so I was going to cross. But then everyone is telling me to shoot and then I hyped myself up a little bit. It was good I shot in the end as it was a good goal."
Loan Future Still Uncertain
Despite his standout season under Hansi Flick, where he has recorded 14 goals and 14 assists, Rashford’s long-term future remains undecided. Barcelona reportedly have a £26 million option to sign him permanently, but financial concerns and wage expectations may hinder a deal.
Asked about whether he would stay in Spain, Rashford gave a cryptic answer:
"I don't know. I am not a magician, but if I was, I would stay. So we will see," he admitted.
He also expressed admiration for the club and its ambitions:
"It's really good. I come here to win. So this is... I want to win as many things as I can. So, this is one more to add to this. Yeah, this team is a wonderful team. They're going to win so much in the future as well. So, to be a part of that would be special. So we will see."
Old Trafford Position Hardened
At Manchester United, Rashford’s future appears increasingly closed. The club is reportedly determined not to reintegrate him after his departure last summer, with his relationship with the hierarchy described as strained following his removal from the first-team setup.
United are also motivated to reduce their wage bill, with his salary set to rise significantly after Champions League qualification under Michael Carrick. Even if Barcelona decline to activate their purchase option, United are expected to seek alternative buyers rather than reinstate him.
Carrick Maintains Distance
Interim boss Carrick has remained non-committal on a possible return, stating:
"I just think there are decisions to be made in time on certain things and obviously Marcus is in that situation. But at this point in time, nothing’s been decided. And it will be, because it has to be at a certain point. But at this stage, there’s nothing to say."
With Barcelona considering their financial priorities and Manchester United preparing for multiple outcomes, Rashford’s future remains unresolved heading into the next transfer window.
