Reports from ESPN indicate that Forest’s asking price is viewed internally as excessive. While funds are available, United’s leadership has little interest in escalating costs through direct competition with City, a scenario that could significantly impact their overall spending plans.

A structured recruitment model remains a key priority at Old Trafford. The club aims to finance its primary midfield addition through outgoing transfers, targeting between £80 million and £90 million in player sales. This approach would allow them to preserve resources for further reinforcements, including another midfield option, a left-sided attacker, and potential defensive additions.

Forest’s firm stance is influenced by recent market trends, notably the £115 million fee paid by Chelsea for Moises Caicedo. The club considers Anderson a crucial long-term asset, with a contract running until 2029 and expectations of a significant role for England at the World Cup.
